Claiborne Whitworth, IV, MD, is a board-certified urologist and Charlottesville, Virginia, native. He has been serving his hometown as a trusted physician since joining Urological Associates in 2004. With nearly 23 years of experience, Dr. Whitworth, known as “Chip” to those who know him well, is proud to work in the same community where he spent his childhood.

Dr. Whitworth attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate studies and continued his education at the same university when he decided to enroll in medical school. After graduating in 1991, Dr. Whitworth went on to complete two residencies and an internship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, before specializing in urology. He completed his urology training in 1996 and quickly set up his own practice in rural Galax, Virginia. Dr. Whitworth was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1998 and began calling Western Albemarle County home shortly after.

Dr. Whitworth is passionate about treating urologic conditions with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, as well as the latest treatment options available. His clinical interests include kidney stones, bladder cancer, urinary tract infection, urinary incontinence, prostate cancer, urologic oncology, and vasectomy. When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Whitworth enjoys spending time at home with his family.
